To whom it may concern,

James Spratt of Trafalgar fame was my Great Great Great Grandfather. I usually reside in Australia but will be in Oxford for the next six months. I was considering visiting Devon having learnt about Woodway House. Any other information regarding the location of James Spratt's grave et cetera would be greatly appreciated.

Thank-you in Advance,

Michael Spratt

Michael, we have not been able to trace the location of the grave. We have more or less ruled out Teignmouth cemetery which was not opened until 1856, and James Spratt died in 1852. His grave is more likely to be in a churchyard. There are several, and Woodway House may also have a private burial ground.

Thank you Ian.

I will look forward to a weekend of sleuthing in Teignmouth in the near future.

Yours Gratefully,

Michael Spratt
